Hello friends, its almost the weekend! So I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but in the wonderful world of Pinterest there are some seriously gorgeous wedding palette boards floating around. The combinations people are coming up with these days are just too good to be true. Its crazy easy to search “wedding palette”, get a whole slue of palette boards, pick the colors of your wedding, and be done. Too easy. I wanted to take us back a few notches and think about the entirely of a palette, without actually having a cheat sheet – the color bar. How an image filled with color makes you feel. What colors you pull immediately and what seem more subtle. When I was choosing colors for my wedding, I became mesmerized by an image I found in a magazine. Not a palette board, but an image that included Kate Moss, a table, and some flowers. It wasn’t necessarily about the style of the image or the photography, it was about the colors I pulled from that image and how I interpreted them for my wedding. I took this ripped magazine image everywhere with me (some would even say it became a joke, some would say it was serious business!), comparing, contrasting, and making sure I was being true to the initial feeling I had when first laying eyes on this beautiful combination. My point is, don’t be so literal in your palette combinations and especially where you pull that inspiration from. If you fall in love with colors on the back of a cereal box, so be it, and interpret those colors into a gorgeous piece of work for your big day.
We’ve hand-selected, just for you, some lovely images with palette inspiration suited for Summer, Spring, Winter, and Fall. We certainly hope you get the warm and fuzzies, but have no fear – there are so many more color-filled images where those came from. Just take a little journey through our Pinterest boards…
