So very excited for today’s post. I finally get to share my husband and I’s one year anniversary shoot (check out our story below)! One year anniversary…still such a foreign concept to me. May 14, 2011 – you don’t seem that far away! Regardless of how foreign it feels, it’s an amazing milestone and the incredibly talented Anna Wu Photography documented it beyond all expectations. On the big day, we headed over to Hotel Union Square in the heart San Francisco’s downtown, fully equip with the best team of artists a gal could ask for. Such a chic day from head to toe and we LOVED every minute of jumping in front of that camera again… Smitten Magazine, did a gorgeous feature on our photos too – make sure to head over there sometime!
This camel feather fascinator was a gorgeous piece created by Erica Elizabeth Designs. The craftsmanship was impeccable and the colors were amazing.
Make sure to read Our One Year Story below, it tells you about our little twist on a one year anniversary tradition…
The hair and make-up made me just giddy, when do you EVER get to wear hair like this?? These girls were good, they executed my vision and then some.
The team over at Hotel Union Square were so lovely. They let us use all the beautiful nooks and crannies this charming boutique-style space had to offer. From the rooftop, to the penthouse suite, to the enchanting hallways, I could just live there.
Our One Year Story:
Chris and I got married last May right outside of Charleston, SC. Shortly after we got home from our honeymoon we had plans of packing up and moving our new life together to San Francisco. In the past year so much has changed…we have changed. We look back at our sweet southern wedding, with the pastel colors and rustic charm…and have the fondest of memories, but even in this short year it seems so far from who we are now. We wanted our anniversary shoot to reflect where we are now in life, in San Francisco – something a little more “city”. We also wanted to use this shoot to document a little twist on a one year anniversary tradition. As the tradition says, you’re supposed to save the top tier of your wedding cake to share on your first anniversary. We didn’t have a large cake, rather a dessert table, so we opted for something different. We wrote special notes to each other on the day of our wedding that would be placed in a wine box with a bottle of red wine, and kept there for the first year of our marriage. So instead of sharing a frozen piece of cake a year later, we enjoyed a bottle of red wine, and two very sweet notes. We’re so excited to see where the next 5 or even 10 years takes us. Who knows what a 5 year anniversary shoot could look like!
